2025 Midwest BunFest Rescue Partners

Together is Better.
There are so many wonderful organizations throughout the world serving their local communities through animal rescue and education efforts. We love building relationships and collaborations with these animal rescue organizations.

Midwest BunFest is a helpful way for OHRR to build a community of these animal rescue organizations, both small and large. We hope to create a network of like-minded groups in order to collaborate on rescue efforts, share best practices, provide support, and partner on events.

OHRR believes that by meeting and working together, animal rescue organizations will continue to grow, based on shared knowledge and experiences. This will allow each organization to reach beyond their local communities and contribute to the well-being of even more animals.

A Home for EveryBunny

Picture
A Home for EveryBunny is a non-profit foster-based rescue, and the only exclusive house rabbit rescue in Iowa. Cats and dogs aren’t the only animals to end up in shelters. Rabbits are the third most common animal to end up in a rescue. Unfortunately, while many shelters are doing their best, rabbit care is much different than that of cats and dogs and can leave rabbits in shelters without the specialized care they need. We provide the specialized care that rabbits need for their health and success through our network of foster homes. We also provide personalized attention to each adopter, so that they can find the pet that will best fit their home for years to come.

Columbus Humane

Picture
Columbus Humane has been fighting animal cruelty, helping animals in need and advocating for their welfare since 1883. Columbus Humane’s approach to animal welfare is different. We believe that when you provide resources that open doors, offer help, share knowledge and invite involvement, you are raising the bar for pets, people, and the entire community. Which is why we have opened the Essential Care Center – the first of its kind in the nation, combining pet food assistance, low-cost veterinary care and pathways to veterinary careers in one building. We invite you to visit Columbus Humane to see our adoptable rabbits in Bunderland and to the Essential Care Center for free pet food and low-cost veterinary care. For more information about Columbus Humane and the Essential Care Center, please visit www.columbushumane.org or call us at 614-777-PETS.

Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary

Picture
Since 1995, Great Lakes Rabbit Sanctuary (GLRS) has provided a safe haven for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. We rescue rabbits from all across Michigan and, when possible, from other areas of the United States. Upon their arrival at GLRS, the rabbits are given medical care if needed and are spayed or neutered, after which they are ready to meet their potential adopters! Those rabbits who are not eligible for adoption, either due to health or temperament, live peacefully at the sanctuary. GLRS is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based on vegan principles in Southeast Michigan, and we are a no-kill facility.

In addition to providing a safe and loving environment, GLRS strives to educate the public about domestic rabbits, including rabbit care and behavior. We hope that our educational efforts will mean fewer rabbits needing our help in the future.

Indiana House Rabbit Society

Picture
Indiana House Rabbit Society is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of domestic rabbits in the state of Indiana. We improve the lives of domestic rabbits by coordinating local volunteer-driven education, rescue, and adoption efforts in Indiana.

To accomplish this goal:
  • We provide resources to educate the public on the benefits of rabbits as companion animals, rabbit behavior, and rabbit care
  • We provide assistance in establishing programs with animal control agencies, shelters, humane societies, and sanctuaries to increase their rabbit adoption rates
  • After we have exhausted all avenues, provided we have the available resources, we coordinate the rescue of rabbits scheduled for euthanasia and adopt them through our group

One of our members, Teresa Gooldy, is a very talented painter and will be selling some of her paintings at our booth.
